New Coat!

Since I've been making such good progress on my quilt, I've decided I need a new project to distract me! I bought a pattern for a cape/coat a while ago when Simplicity patterns were on sale for $1 each, and I finally found the perfect fabric and buttons for it:

I'm so excited!!! Here's the pattern so you can see what it will look like when it's all finished (I'm making B, the one in the upper right corner):

Fall break is coming up this weekend, so maybe I will have some free time to really make some progress on my projects... When I'm not studying organic chemistry, of course!

Knitting in the Round!

After learning how to do two-color knitting, I decided to learn how to knit in the round so I can combine the two to make awesome socks (and eventually sweaters!). I finished (half of) my first project: wrist warmers! It turns out knitting in the round is actually super easy and awesome. And even though it's a little too small, I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out:

I think I might just have to give them to someone with smaller wrists if I make the second one. However, I think for now I am going to move on. Next I think I'm going to make myself Jayne's hat (from Firefly). Or perhaps socks. Or a scarf! I saw this scarf on Think Geek, and I think I can just make it for myself, but with a smaller pattern:

Next time: Updates on my quilt! I started the actual quilting process now, so hopefully I'll have it finished before the cold weather really kicks in.
